‘All Eyes’ is the first release off Melbourne duo LoVision‘s forthcoming, yet to be titled album.
Formed earlier this year between Lucas George (ex. Whipped Cream Chargers & Atrocities) and jazz singer Kimberley Little, the project combines Lucas’ lofi/hifi home recording approach with Kim’s twisted lyrics and gorgeous voice to create a sound which steps outside of expectations.
A darkened mixture of electronica and more organic styles, it seems just from this early release that with this album they will be pushing towards something at once chilling and beatific.
The track takes a peek into the dark hallways of paranoia, into sexuality and obsession, into power inversions and into violence. The video, premiering on Skydreams today, continues these themes and pushes them further with its digitised collage of singer Kimberley crushing bananas with her heels, mother goddess worship, and nile crocodiles doing death rolls.
The snaking guitars, the beat that sits somewhere between Severed Heads and minimal hip-hop, the subtle shifts that move the song from part to part, the jolting beginning and end that make it feel like the song was there, but only in a dream…
The duo will be playing a residency at the Yarra Hotel on Thursdays in January.
