1. Love – You Set The Scene

Arthur Lee at 58 playing in front of a billion people at Glastonbury. This is beautiful music, this is the truth of things, this is the moment Arthur could never have imagined in the lost decades of the 80’s and 90’s, this is redemption for a man falsely put in prison, this makes me cry joyful tears to the universe. I cannot explain what this song did for me as a fresh out of high-school depresso with pretty bad taste in music. It turned me on. This song is part Christ, part Blake, part Picasso and Dali, part Buddha, part 2001 Space Oddysey, part zen wisdom and a total schooling in the liberation of oneself from oneself and the total surrender to infinity, all in a 7 minute mini opera of eternal beauty. I dig this track.

2. Mississippi John Hurt – You Got To Walk That Lonesome Valley

This simply needs to be seen by as many people as possible. A song for getting through the thick and thin and thinner. Let ol’ Mississippi John’s introduction to this do the rest….

3. Greatest Hits – L Train Girl

Gettin’ a bit more ‘now’ here. I live on the L train and this song pretty much somes it up. Babes Babes Babes. Thanks Will ‘the magician’ Macfarlane for turning me onto this….

 4. Gram Parsons & Emmylou Harris – Hickory Wind Slideshow

Excuse the crap slideshow. This is a gut punch of a song, Gram and Emmylou singin’ the sad angel blues in perfect harmony. I hope you like it.

5. Swans – Blind

Can’t really describe this song. The video is cool, god bless amateur youtube clips. I’m pretty sure it’s aliens. Just in case you didn’t know aliens are real. I hope you are switched onto this because it’s 2012 and strange things are going to happen in the next few years. Somehow Swans seem to suit the introspective mood one enters after watching hours of David Icke, Michael Tsarion and other such dudes who talk about aliens, Atlantis and the future of mankind. “I’m Blind” ah, haunting.
